Training Officer Resources

Being a communications training officer (CTO) is one of the most challenging and rewarding jobs in the emergency communications field.  You are a liaison between management and the new employee, the public and the new employee, and your peers and the new employee.  It can be a fun, exhausting, rewarding, stressful experience, and sometimes all things at once.

This section of the website contains some helpful links to some of the areas of the CTO position.  Each agency has it's own forms and training styles but some of the main content is universal.

It is important to remember as you are teaching new hires the personnel, technical, ethical, and skills of the dispatching position to maintain a professional, patient and positive attitude.

"Give someone a fish and he/she eats for a day. Teach someone to fish and he/she eats for a lifetime."

This section will continue to be updated regularly so please check back to see what's new.
